Browser extension
Install
The HitApply browser extension saves jobs from the sites you already browse and fills in application forms from your profile. Installing it takes about two minutes, once.
Requirements
- Chrome, or another Chromium browser such as Edge or Brave, on a computer. Phones aren't supported.
- A HitApply account.
The extension isn't in the Chrome Web Store yet, so you install it from a download. That's why Chrome asks for Developer mode.
Install it
- Download the extension and unzip it. Keep the unzipped folder somewhere it won't be deleted, because Chrome loads the extension from it.
- In Chrome, go to
chrome://extensions. - Turn on Developer mode (top right).
- Press Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder.

- Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin HitApply.
- Click the HitApply icon and sign in.
Save a job while you browse
Open a job on LinkedIn or Indeed and click Queue in HitApply. HitApply writes a tailored résumé and cover letter for it, and the job appears on your Dashboard.
Updating
When a new version is out, download it again, replace the old folder's contents, and press the reload icon on the HitApply card in chrome://extensions.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Manifest file is missing" | You chose the zip or the wrong folder. Choose the folder that contains manifest.json. |
| The extension disappeared after a restart | The folder was moved or deleted. Unzip it somewhere permanent and load it again. |
| No Queue in HitApply button | Reload the job page. If it's still missing, click the HitApply icon and check you're signed in. |
Next: Autofill.
