Connect an AI assistant
ChatGPT
Add HitApply to ChatGPT so you can search jobs, write tailored documents and track applications from a ChatGPT chat.
Requirements
- A paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu. The Free plan can't add custom connectors.
- On Business, Enterprise and Edu, an admin may need to allow custom connectors, or add HitApply for the workspace.
- ChatGPT on the web, at chatgpt.com, for setup. Once it's added, the connector works in the apps too.
- About 3 minutes.
Last checked October 2026. OpenAI renames these menus often. If a step looks different, search ChatGPT's help for "custom MCP server".
1. Add HitApply
- Open chatgpt.com/plugins.
- Press +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Don't see it? Open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode, and try again.
- Name it
HitApplyand paste this address:
https://api.hitapply.app/mcp
- Choose OAuth for authentication, if ChatGPT asks.
- Read ChatGPT's warning about custom servers, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.

2. Install it
Creating the plugin doesn't switch it on yet.
- Open your personal plugins.
- Open HitApply and press + to install it.
- ChatGPT opens HitApply. Sign in if asked, check the list of permissions, and press Allow access.

3. Use it in a chat
- Go to the ChatGPT home page and switch the tab at the top from Chat to Work.
- Start a new Work chat, type @, choose HitApply, then ask:
@HitApply what have I applied to this month?
More ideas: What you can ask. To have ChatGPT fill in application forms in its own browser, see Auto-apply.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| No Add custom MCP server option | Turn on Developer mode (step 2). On a work or school plan, ask your admin. |
| ChatGPT can read but not queue jobs | Some plans only allow read actions in custom connectors. Queue the job in HitApply yourself, then ask ChatGPT again. |
| HitApply isn't listed when you type @ | Install it under your personal plugins (step 2), and use a Work chat, not a regular one. |
| ChatGPT doesn't use HitApply | Start your message with @HitApply. |
| "Couldn't connect" after approving | Delete the server in ChatGPT, add it again, and approve within a few minutes. |
