Getting started

Credits

HitApply's AI features use credits. Your balance is always in the sidebar, and Settings shows it with a history of what you spent.

What uses credits

Anything that asks the AI to write or read for you:

  • Generating, rewriting and reviewing a résumé or cover letter
  • Chatting with Scout or the editor assistants
  • Importing a résumé or a LaTeX template
  • Autofill answers written by the AI (answers you saved earlier are free)
  • Requests from a connected AI assistant that run HitApply's AI
  • Auto-apply

Everything else is free: browsing jobs, tracking applications, editing documents by hand, and downloading them.

How much things cost

AI requests are charged by how much work they take, so short ones cost less than long ones. As a rough guide:

ActionTypical cost
A Scout message or an autofill answerA few credits
A tailored résumé and cover letterAbout 10 credits
Auto-apply300 credits

These are estimates; your history in Settings shows what each day actually cost. A request that fails partway can still cost credits for the work it did.

If Auto-apply fails before submitting, the 300 credits come back to you. If it pressed Submit but the site never confirmed the application went through, the credits stay spent, because it may well have been sent.

Running low

You start with 3,000 credits. When you're low, the balance in the sidebar turns amber.

A large request can take your balance slightly below zero; after that, AI features pause until you have credits again. Email support@hitapply.app and we'll top you up.

Credits don't expire.
